Crisp Fall Days at Oceanstone
Fall is an incredible time to be at Oceanstone. Stoking evening fires and retreating to cozy accommodations, all with a background of brilliant orange, rusty red, sharp yellows, and crisp brown. We can tell you’re unwinding already! We have your evenings covered, but if you are looking for day trips, Oceanstone is close to some great local spots that are rich with the fall flavours of Nova Scotia.
Sweet Delights
Maple This, Maple That – Even though the sap runs in early spring (February, March, and April), maple products always remind us of the fall. If you’re the same and want maple everything this time of year, head 20 mins down Peggy’s Cove Road from Oceanstone to Tantallon and you’ll find the retail location for Acadian Maple Products – a haven for all things maple. Open 9-5 throughout the week, or 10-5 on Saturday and 12-5 on Sunday. If you’re a large group or a corporate function, you can even call ahead to schedule a meal!
Cyclists Hideaway
If you’re feeling adventurous and aren’t ready to say goodbye to our fantastic fall weather just yet, bring your bicycle to Oceanstone. Although the famed Lighthouse Route is beautiful any time of year, the fall is especially stunning with its medley of colours and crisp sea breezes. My personal favourite rest stop is the Bike and Bean Cafe in Upper Tantallon (about 1 hour and 20 mins away by bike). Open 8-5 daily. Grab yourself a Hot Chai Cider to warm up and a delicious Turkey, Provolone and Cranberry Mayo panini to refuel before heading back to the trail. If you’re from out of town or don’t have a bike they do bike rentals too! Positioned conveniently on the BLT Trail, there’s no reason even beginner cyclists can’t enjoy Nova Scotia’s fall beauty. If you would rather take in the scenery in with a drive the Bike and Bean’s cozy atmosphere is just a 20 min car ride!
What’s Old is New
Even though it’s only November, people are bound to start thinking about the gift-giving season. In the past few years, I’ve been avoiding buying new and thoroughly enjoy the hunt of finding that perfect something from an antique store. Whether you find that valuable, sought after brand name, or an unknown article that you can upcycle into something new and unique, antiquing can be incredibly rewarding. Luckily, there are a few gems around Oceanstone that you can scour for that special item. One of our favorites is Lo+Behold . If you haven’t visited yet, it’s an absolute must! They are open Friday & Saturday from 11-6, and Sunday 11-5 through fall and winter.
